Helpful Tips For Panic Attacks

If you have gone to your doctor and have been diagnosed as suffering from panic attacks you will be offered a course of treatment. Don't just rely on your doctor and the treatment for success, YOU need to take control of your life! Here are some helpful tips for panic attacks sufferers.

1. It's Your Treatment - Be Involved

Do not sit back and wait for something to happen! Success does not come to you. You must remain active and aware of your mind and body's reactions to the treatment. Keep the lines of communication open with your doctor and staff. Don't be afraid to ask questions - there is no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your heath.

2. Don't Give Up Too Quickly

Everyone is different, therefore not everyone will respond the same to treatment. For some it may take days for others, weeks. No known treatment for panic works instantly. Be patient, don't give up on your course of treatment too quickly. You have to address what triggers your panic attacks. After a couple of months if you feel like it's not working, discuss your plan with your medical provider.

3. Listen To Your Body

It is extremely important to talk to your doctor if you are taking medication to control your attacks. Until you get the correct dosage you will need to give your doctor alot of feedback. Understand clearly the side effects you may encounter and let your doctor know immediately if there is something wrong. Sometimes you may need to take time to work through the effects and sometimes you may need to adjust your dosage or the medication itself.

4. Don't Go It Alone

Find a support group of other panic attack sufferers. Your family and friends may be understanding but only other sufferers know what it feels like to experience an attack. Talking to other people may also help you find treatments and other helpful tips for treating panic attacks.

Just keeping these helpful tips for panic attacks in mind and putting them to use during your treatment may help make you feel much better and increase your chances of treatment being effective. PR
